Copyright, trademarks, and reports
This independent editorial project documents college-football institutions, events, rankings, and traditions. This page separates source credit, reuse permission, trademark identification, and the process for reporting a specific rights concern.
Institutional, conference, bowl, poll, broadcaster, league, and championship names and logos appear only where they identify a team, event, source, historical result, or illustrative matchup. They remain the property of their owners, are not incorporated into this project’s own mark, and are not offered on merchandise. Their appearance does not state or imply sponsorship, approval, or affiliation.
A credit names the source; a license or other valid permission authorizes reuse. Those are different things. The image-credit ledger records the source and reuse basis checked for each published photograph. Creator-supplied personal photographs are identified separately. If a listed license or permission is incomplete, the image will be removed or replaced while the issue is reviewed.
Unless otherwise credited, original proposal text, commentary, data presentation, and site design are published by Alec Levine. You may link to public pages and quote limited portions with attribution. Reusing substantial original material, downloadable documents, or the project’s own visual identity requires permission unless an applicable legal exception independently permits the use.
Contributors keep ownership of their writing and grant the limited publication license described in the Terms & Rights. Submissions are moderated before publication, and contributors must have the right to share what they submit.
Copyright and DMCA notices
Use the private contact form and choose Copyright, DMCA, or rights report. Identify the protected work, the exact site URL or material at issue, your contact information, a good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or law, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner. Include your physical or electronic signature.
Good-faith notices will be reviewed promptly and material may be disabled while a claim is evaluated. This reporting channel is not a representation that Better College Football has registered a designated DMCA agent with the U.S. Copyright Office. A registration, if completed, will be stated here with the registered agent’s complete public contact information. Until then, the site does not expose a personal home address merely to imitate a completed registration.
Send a copyright, DMCA, or rights reportCounter-notices
If your material was disabled because of a copyright notice and you believe the removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, choose Copyright, DMCA, or rights report and label the message “Counter-notice.” Include your physical or electronic signature; identify the removed material and its prior location; state under penalty of perjury your good-faith belief that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification; and provide your name, address, and telephone number together with the jurisdiction and service-of-process statements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).
A compliant counter-notice will be forwarded to the original claimant. If the statutory process applies, restoration will follow the applicable waiting period unless the claimant gives notice of a filed court action. Counter-notices contain legally significant statements and should be reviewed carefully before submission.
Repeat infringement
The project adopts a repeat-infringer policy for community participation. In appropriate circumstances after documented review, an account associated with repeated valid copyright notices or clear repeated infringement may have its contributions removed and its ability to submit new community material blocked. The project will keep a private record of notices, counter-notices, actions, and account decisions needed to apply the policy consistently.
The project will not interfere with standard technical measures that identify or protect copyrighted works when those measures apply. This policy supports a future safe-harbor process; it does not itself establish eligibility or replace registration of a current designated agent.
Current status
The project maintains a public image-source ledger, a prominent independence notice, moderation before reader publication, a rights-reporting channel, and a correction record. None of those items guarantees that a particular use is lawful, replaces a required license, or prevents a rights owner from objecting.
The name Better College Football is used as the project’s editorial identity. No federal trademark registration is claimed on this site. A complete clearance search and legal opinion would need to cover federal records, state records, and unregistered marketplace use—not only a web search.
